Shahira Abdel Shahid

Independent financial services professional with thirty-five years in advisory, mostly at the Egyptian Exchange and the Financial Regulatory Authority, plus investment and development banking and part-time teaching. As senior advisor to the FRA's executive chairman she issued Egypt's first investor protection manual for non-banking financial services and the FRA's first sustainability report. At EGX she helped shape strategy, modernise rules and promote the exchange to institutional investors. Elected Vice Chairman of the World Federation of Exchanges' Emerging Markets Working Group in 2016. Holds master's and PhD degrees.
